Give Kids A Smile®

Helping Children Through Give Kids A Smile® 

Be a part of the GKAS movement!

Through the ADA Foundation's Give Kids A Smile program, launched nationally by the American Dental Association in 2003, more than 5.5 million underserved children have received free oral health services. These free services are provided by volunteers including approximately 10,000 dentists annually, along with 30,000 other dental team members. 2020 GKAS National Kickoff Event Site

Purpose: The Give Kids A Smile National Kickoff Event is celebrated annually on the first Friday in February to coincide with National Children’s Dental Health Month. Each year the ADA Foundation selects a premier GKAS program to host the National Kickoff Event. Organizations with a proven track record of hosting an exemplary GKAS event may apply.

Application period: The application period closes on Friday, May 31, 11:59 p.m. C.D.T.

Event Date: February 6-7, 2020

Eligibility Requirements: The ADA Foundation accepts applications from individuals representing organizations that provide oral health care for underserved children through a Give Kids A Smile event, including state (constituent) and local (component) dental societies of the ADA and/or community based organizations. Applicants must reside within the 50 U.S. states.

The selected host program must:
• Be a model event that can share best practices and proven tactics for the betterment of other GKAS programs.
• Host the national GKAS kickoff event on Friday, February 7, 2020.
• Collaborate with the ADA Foundation to plan and host a GKAS National Kickoff Reception on Thursday, February 6, 2020 (the evening prior to the GKAS event).
• Openly discuss implementation plans of the GKAS event with the ADA Foundation and GKAS sponsors as required leading up to the kickoff event.

Dollar Amount: Up to $15,000 to offset the cost of the reception and other related expenses.
