GKAS National Kickoff Location
Hosting the national kickoff of the ADA Foundation's Give Kids A Smile program draws national attention to your GKAS program.

Purpose: The Give Kids A Smile’s National Kickoff Event is celebrated annually on the first Friday in February to coincide with National Children’s Dental Health Month. Each year the ADA Foundation selects a premier GKAS program to host the National Kickoff Event. Organizations with a proven track record of hosting an exemplary GKAS event may apply during the next application period.
Application period: The 2020 application period will open in April 2019.
Date of the 2019 GKAS National Kickoff Event: January 31 - February 1, 2019
Eligibility Requirements: The ADA Foundation accepts applications from individuals representing organizations that provide oral health care for underserved children through a Give Kids A Smile event, including state (constituent) and local (component) dental societies of the ADA and/or community based organizations. Applicants must reside within the 50 U.S. states.
The selected host program must:
• Be a model event that can share best practices and proven tactics for the betterment of other GKAS programs.
• Host the national GKAS kickoff event on the first Friday in February.
• Collaborate with the ADA Foundation to plan and host a GKAS National Kickoff Reception on the Thursday evening prior to the GKAS event.
• Openly discuss implementation plans of the GKAS event with the ADA Foundation and GKAS sponsors as required leading up to the kickoff event.
Dollar Amount of the Award: The dollar amount of the grant is $15,000 to offset the cost of the reception and other related expenses.
