Dental Student Scholarship Program

Due to a generous donation from Dr. and Mrs. Gary Oyster, in 2026, the ADA Foundation launched an education-focused scholarship program designed to address rising dental school debt and other financial challenges that reduce participation in attending dental school.

2026 ADA Foundation Dental Student Scholarship Program

The inaugural ADA Foundation Dental Student Scholarship Program advances the future of the dental profession by supporting a promising student or students with the interest and ability, but not the financial resources, to attend an accredited (predoctoral) dental education program. Up to two (2) scholarships each valued at $5,000 will be awarded to dental students enrolled in a CODA-accredited North Carolina dental school for this pilot program. The ADAF anticipates expanding the program nationwide in 2027.

In order to be eligible for consideration for this scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be enrolled in a predoctoral dental education program in North Carolina that is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) at the time the applicant applies to the scholarship program.
  • Be in good academic standing at the dental school.
  • Demonstrate financial need.

The scholarship application period opens August 3, 2026, and closes September 7, 2026.
