About San Antonio
San Antonio is considered to be “the heart of Texas” and is famous for its well-preserved, multicultural history. The Annual Session will be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, located directly on San Antonio’s renowned River Walk. The downtown area features excellent restaurants with menus that include a range of Southwestern, Mexican, and “Tex-Mex” food that must be experienced to be understood. San Antonio is a shopper’s paradise. Browse for hours in the small craft shops and boutiques of La Villita, a historic village from the late 1700s, or shop in the nearby Rivercenter Mall. Sightseeing attractions include, the Alamo--Texas’ most visited site, Hemisfair Park, and La Villita. Streetcars travel frequently between downtown and the King William Historic District. Austin, the capital of Texas, is just 129 km (80 mi) from San Antonio. October is an excellent time to visit San Antonio.
